Whilst shooting Jamal’s two previous choppers, he had mentioned to me that he had a new chopper on the way over from the States that was sure to set the standard in Australia. After laying eyes on this piece of black magic, I sure wasn’t ready to disagree with Jamal. But Jamal’s love for choppers wasn’t always as strong as it is now. Believe it or not, his love for Japanese pocket rockets was where it all started. His maiden ride on a mate’s Fat Boy was the turning point and since then, Jamal has produced some of Australia’s most respected custom choppers.
After building two show stopping, award winning choppers, Jamal started talks with the Chopp Shop over in North Carolina. Known for their ability to build some of the world’s best bikes, the green light was granted and the fabrication work was under way. The Wicked Willy frame and parts for the bike were imported from the states and Ken from Cobra Craft Engineering began assembling the bike. With Jamal’s help, the bike was put together over a period of 10 months. The bike features a 45 degree rake and has been stretched 8 inches.
With one of Jamal’s previous choppers sporting a 300 ass end, he stepped up and opted for a 330 rear tyre for the bike. The staggering 21 inch Performance Machine ‘Recluse’ front rim is complimented by a custom built Chopp Shop front guard. Powering this ‘Dark Knight’ chopper is a 107ci S&S setup with Axtel barrels and S&S heads. The bike breathes through a Martin Brothers exhaust setup and a Baker 5 speed RSD gearbox with a Primo Pro hydraulic clutch helps support the 107ci motor.
The Chopp Shop in North Carolina have really made this bike one of a kind with custom built handle bars, petrol and oil tanks, front and rear guards and even supplying the tough looking paint job. Jamal already has plans of another chopper in the future but for now he’s quite happy for this bike to continue oozing attitude.
