Next please! Its not often you pull up to a 9 second street car, let alone one with looks to match its power. That’s probably what makes this VL one of the most respected cars in the Sydney modified car scene today. Not to mention some of the biggest names in the game were involved in the build of the car. Read on to find out more…
When the name Anthony Maatouk is associated with any car, majority of the time its packing a whole lot of power. When the man himself builds the car, you’re guaranteed to see a huge horse power figure with some very quick times to back it up. Anthony originally built this car hoping for some very quick times on a small tyre and that was definitely achieved. With Anthony responsible for the engine build and the driving duties, the car was piloted to a best of 9.50 @ 144 MPH. When current owner Chris realized the potential of the car, he knew it was the one he wanted.
Chris purchased the car off Anthony about 2 years ago and knew the flawless paint from Custom Body Works would look good on the street. The journey to turn this 9 sec animal into a street car began. First move was to contact BMC Auto Trim and get a respectable interior in the car to replace the one seat Anthony sat on to pilot the car into the 9 second zone. The roll cage was also taken out and the new four seat street trim was installed. Next step was to get the 2 speed gear box out of the car and install something suitable for cruising the streets. The car now sports a 5 speed manual gearbox to back up the ‘Maatouks Racing’ powered RB30ET. The 20’’ AME wheels were put on and the job was complete. The car is often out cruising the streets of Sydney and still earns a whole lot of respect!
A big thanks goes out to Joel Haski and the boys at http://www.redbaron.com.au and Bansktown Airport. Without their co operation, the photo shoot would have never been possible. For the best joy flight experience, be sure to contact Joel at Red Baron Adventures!
